If you want to cool off, our outdoor pools are now open. Cobb has two outdoor pools available for summer fun – Sewell Park Pool and Powder Springs Pool. Pool hours are 1:00pm – 5:00pm, Tuesday – Friday. For more information regarding the pools, see our website. Did you know that Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department has a water park with slides, a lazy river, and fun activities for the kids? The South Cobb Aquatic Center is just that - an indoor water park! Get out of the hot sun with this great attraction located off Six Flags Road in south Cobb. If
you want activities for the children this summer, there are summer camps
available at Cobb's recreation centers,
tennis centers and art
centers. Although some camps have filled by now, there are still
many openings at various facilities. For the For adults, there are also many opportunities to learn something new. Classes are offered for arts, fitness, dance, tennis, aquarobics and more - available for all ages. Family activities include movies in the parks, concerts and theatre performances. There are outdoor activities with our Natural Resources unit with opportunities to learn about nature and our environment. Have a picnic in the park and be sure to take pictures (for the photo contest). Exciting
Free Concert Series this Summer The Art Place-Mountain View's Summer Stars concert series will continue Saturday, June 4th, with "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare! Abridged." The show will be presented by CenterStage North and Mountain View Arts Alliance and feature Jeffrey Bigger, Rial Ellsworth and Jim Dailey. The show is free so residents are encouraged to bring their blankets, chairs and picnics to enjoy the show. The lawn opens at 7:00pm for seating and the show begins at 7:30pm. Stream Restoration Project Completed at Shaw Park
This project was a multi-organization effort, with many partners providing funding and in-kind support. The partners were: Cobb Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Gaskins Engineering and Surveying, Rolling Hills RC and D Council, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC and D Council, U.S. Fish and Widlife Service, USDA-Natural Resource Conservation, Cobb Department of Transportation, The Erosion Company, Aquascape Environmental, Rolanka International, Vulcan Materials, Robert Schoonover (Eagle Scout project) and Shaw Park Baseball Association.

park. The 7th Annual "Fun in the Park' Photo Contest will be accepting
entries through out the summer. Enter up to 10 of your best shots for

Unique Summer Art Camp Offered for Young Adults Parents looking for something different for their middle schoolers to do this summer should consider the paper sculpture camp for ages 11-13 at the Art Station-Big Shanty. The camp will be held 1:30pm-4:30pm, June 6th-10th. Participants will learn about several paper sculpture artists during the unique camp. Instructor Alexandra Hart has a background in industrial architecture and knowledge of how to use paper to make and build in 3-D. For more information, call (770) 514-5930. Pittsburgh
Steelers running back and Georgia Tech alum Jonathan Dwyer
will host a youth football camp at his alma mater, Kell High School in
Marietta, June 16th-18th. The camp is open to youth ages
5-18. Participating campers will enjoy three full days of activities,
fundamental drills, and positive reinforcement from some of the country’s
top NFL athletes. The camp will benefit the Kell High School Football
Program and The Jonathan Dwyer ADD Neuro Lab. To register or for more

Recreation Center Offers Exciting Programs for Spring
Ward Recreation
Center is offering $4 Zumba classes every Thursday at 9:30am and every
Tuesday at 5:45pm. No sign-ups or commitment, just pay as you go! The Powder
Springs Basketball Academy Camp will be held August 8th-12th.
The camp is $125 for the week. The camp meets from 7:30am-5:30pm and is
for children in grades K-8. Registration is in progress. Art
& Soul - Nurturing Artistic Expression - Students will be
encouraged to express themselves through their paintings and other art
endeavors. The instructor will teach and explore color mixture possibilities
using the color wheel, texture designs, and creative development. Various
media work projects such as sponge designs and outline painting instruction
will be explored. Choi
Kwang-Do - Choi Kwang-Do is a fun and exciting
way to achieve powerful, positive change. Condition your body and focus
your mind as you develop self-discipline to achieve the goals you set
in school, business, and your personal life. Choi Kwang-Do is a practical
form of self-defense taught in a safe and non-competitive environment
and teaches basic family values and character development. Classes are
taught by Master Beverly S. Busker, 5th Black Belt with 20 years of experience,
a degree in physical education, and the only female in the world to hold
this title in Choi Kwang-Do. Register in person with the instructor for

Park Recreation Center on Fridays from 6:00pm–8:00pm. Learn to dance basic
Salsa. Prepare to burn calories and have lots of fun as you enjoy the
Latin rhythms. The cost of each class is $10 per person. Introducing Yoga - Learn the best poses to develop your core while developing upper and lower body strength. Gain flexibility and good posture as you work at your own level of fitness. Release stress leaving you feeling relaxed and balanced. Yoga has it all!!
