The
Art Station - Big Shanty, Cobb County Parks , Recreation,
and Cultural Affair's third center dedicated to the arts,
opened to the public in June of 2002. The house, originally
built in 1943, was relocated to its present location and renovated
to include both classroom and exhibition space. We strive
to meet the artistic needs and desires of the North Cobb community
with two multimedia instruction classrooms, a photography
darkroom, a pottery studio, and a large exhibition space that
opens to an incredible view of Kennesaw Mountain . The Art
Station - Big Shanty presents a wide variety of art instruction
and designs specialized classes through our Art For All programs.
In our gallery space, we exhibit local artists, arts groups,
art related communities and local schools.
We
also offer free family activities throughout the year so give
us a call for more information about anything we offer at

December
Programs
Registration
for winter session at The Art Station – Big Shanty is December
15th at 9:30am. Classes are now posted on our website at www.artstationcobb.org.
Starting November 29th , Kennesaw Mountain High School 's
art program will be holding their gallery showing at The Art
Station. We will also be having 3 Winter Wonderland workshops
for ages 2-13. The projects will be held on the first 3 Saturdays
of December, and each will be related to snow! Each project
usually takes about 30 minutes and is a drop in event between
the hours of 10:30am and noon, and it is only $5! We will
also be doing our second annual Gift Box Artist Market this
year. Starting December 5th , The Art Station will be filled
with unique pieces hand made by local artisans. It is such
a great way to shop for the holiday season! On December 10th
wear your pajamas, meet Santa, make a gingerbread house, and
much more at Jingles and Jammies. This event will be held
at Ward Recreational Center in Powder Springs and is a guaranteed
good time for the whole family. It is $10 per person and worth
every penny of it.

January Programs
Registration
is still on going for winter and spring session at The Art
Station – Big Shanty. Classes are now posted on our website

, and are filling up fast so register today! Starting
January 5 th , stop in and view our gallery space which will
be filled with beautiful watercolor paintings by Gary Curtis.
We will also be having two January workshops for ages 2-13.
