Summer Fun in Cobb Parks!!!

School is out, the weather is hot, and there is plenty of fun to be had in Cobb's parks!  There is something for everyone in the family - whether you want to go swimming, fishing, learn to play tennis, or create an artistic piece, you can find it here.  Gas prices are out of control, so find your fun around home!!!!

If you want to cool off, our outdoor pools are now open. Cobb has two outdoor pools available for summer fun – Sewell Park Pool and Powder Springs Pool. Pool hours are 1:00pm – 6:00pm, Tuesday – Sunday. For more information regarding the pools, see our website.

Did you know that Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department has a water park with slides, a lazy river, and fun activities for the kids?  The South Cobb Aquatic Center is just that - an indoor water park!  Get out of the hot sun with this great attraction located off Six Flags Road in south Cobb.

If you want activities for the children this summer, there are summer camps available at Cobb's recreation centers, tennis centers and art centers.  Although some camps have filled by now, there are still many openings at various facilities.  For the ultimate summer, try a week of tennis camp, a week of art camp, and then a week at one of our recreation center camps.

For adults, there are also many opportunities to learn something new.   Classes are offered for the arts, fitness, dance, tennis, aquarobics and more - available for all ages.

Family activities include movies in the parks, concerts and theatre performances.  There are outdoor activities with our Natural Resources unit with opportunities to learn about nature and our environment.  Have a picnic in the park and be sure to take pictures (for the photo contest).  You can't say you have nothing to do this summer - learn something new, get some exercise, enjoy a concert and get involved!!!!

The Front Row Summer Edition is Now Available Online

The summer issue of 'The Front Row' magazine is now available online. This issue includes summer camp and program registration information. The Front Row is your resource for all program and facility information for Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. Please note that this issue is available online only. Spotlight on the Arts 2009

This year’s 'Spotlight on the Arts' was a huge success. There was lots of entertainment with music and dancing from Barber Middle School and Lovingood Middle School. A variety of dance and music was enjoyed by all who came. In the gallery, a display of artwork from over ten elementary schools in the area could be viewed. All mediums of artwork were featured. Children  went outside and enjoyed making crafts with the help of Harrison High School volunteers.
