Elementary School Tennis League Forming for Spring

Cobb Tennis Centers offer a Cobb County Elementary School Tennis League Program for children to participate in a fun sport while sharing school spirit with classmates as they represent their school in tennis. Now in its second year, the league offers team competition for children in grades 2-5. They learn this life-long sport by playing games on size-appropriate courts and using specially designed tennis balls to help them play with control. Leagues are offered for beginner players through intermediate levels.

Here are the elementary school teams that are scheduled to participate in this spring season for the Cobb County Elementary School Tennis League Program: Addison, Davis, East Side, Garrison Mill, Keheley, Kincaid, Murdock, Nicholson, North Cobb Christian School, Shallowford Falls, Tritt, and Rocky Mount. If your school is not on the list, contact us if you would like to form a team representing your school. It is easy to form a team - you only need 4 players from your school to have a team. We are looking forward to this list continuing to grow as your school joins in the fun.

Registration is underway and goes through Friday, February 18th. The fee to participate is $10.00 per player. Play begins Friday, March 25th. For more information, see the league web page or contact Lola Wilburn at (770) 591-3151.

Adult Athletic League Registration Is Here

Registration is here for the 2011 adult spring/summer softball and kickball leagues. Teams returning from the spring 2010 season can register online for the same league from February 1-21. Contact your athletic coordinator to obtain your PIN and ID numbers. Walk-in registration for returning teams will be February 22nd from 6:00pm-8:00pm and new team registration will be February 24th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the parks administration offices. New for 2011, we will be offering a 10-game schedule for $375.00 for softball and a 10-game schedule for $250.00 for kickball. Please see the registration packets for further details. The registration packets can be found on the athletics web page.

Registration for adult flag football league is also currently in progress. Information regarding flag football can be found here.

If you do not have a team but would still like to play, go to the specific sport web page and fill out the 'Free Agent' form. Staff members will provide the list to teams looking for additional players.

2011 Encore Series Tickets Now Available

The 2011 Encore Series at Jennie T. Anderson Theatre is underway with a performance of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" by Pebblebrook High School. The Encore Series will also include The Four Lads, Chubby Checker, Lorrie Morgan, Brenda Lee and Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.

"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" is a musical based on Shepherd Mead's 1952 book of the same name and will be presented by Pebblebrook High School/Cobb County's 'School of Excellence in the Performing Arts'. After the musical opened on Broadway, the show won seven Tony Awards and the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The show runs from February 3rd-February 6th.

'The Four Lads' will perform on Saturday, February 12th. The Four Lads began their professional career in 1950 and soon after began performing at a dinner club in New York called Le Ruban Bleu and produced a record in 1953 that quickly turned gold. More than 50 years later, The Four Lads continue to capture hearts across the country.
