Cobb to Host National Softball Tournament

If it’s Labor Day Weekend, then it must be national softball tournament time in Cobb County. For the 28th consecutive year, Cobb’s parks department will be hosting an Amateur Softball Association (ASA) national championship tournament. This time around, Cobb will host the ASA Men’s Class D South Slow-Pitch National Championship from August 29-September 1 at the Lost Mountain Softball Complex. The event is expected to draw more than 50 teams and marks the first men’s slow-pitch national Cobb has hosted since 2000. It also represents the 40th ASA national championship hosted locally at the Al Bishop and Lost Mountain complexes. Cobb’s national championship relationship with the ASA dates back to 1981 and will continue in late July 2009 when more than 140 teams are expected to participate in the ASA Girl’s 14-Under Class A Fast-Pitch national final. Day tickets for the men's tournament are $6 for adults and $4 for children with weekend passes available.   Come out and see the action!
