Sweat Mountain Park Named 'Best Dog Park in Summer' by Atlanta Magazine
Cobb's first dog park at Sweat Mountain Park was named as 'Best Dog Park in Summer' by Atlanta Magazine.  The magazine describes the park as "One of the largest public parks in the metro area, Sweat Mountain is almost all shade, making this the
perfect place for dogs in the summer-time - especially if they are easily overheated or especially furry" (Atlanta Magazine - June 2007).  For more infomation on the dog park, see our website here.

Donate Silly String for the Troops!

Our troops overseas have discovered that Silly String can be used for detecting tripwires without triggering an explosion. Help protect our soldiers by bringing a donation of Silly String to the Art Station – Big Shanty before the end of the summer.

Staff Notes

Terry Chandler, the Theatre Manager at the Jennie T. Anderson Amphitheatre has received Cobb County's 'Customer Service Award' for the spring quarter.  He is responsible for all events held at the theatre.  Terry was nominated by fellow co-workers for going above and beyond in serving his customers.  He goes out of his way to promote the theatre and its events whenever he gets the chance and he consistently seeks out opportunities to encourage, mentor, and assist young performing artists in the pursuit of their goals. Important Message from the City of Acworth Police Department:

CCPD has received emails regarding the possible attempted child abduction that occurred in the City of Acworth. We made contact with Det. Kirkley with the Acworth Police Department who is investigating the case and obtained this lookout (B.O.L.O.) and a synopsis of what took place.

Det. Kirkley advised that on June 16, 2007 at approximately 8:30pm, an 8 year old boy was near a wooded area at the Acworth Sports Complex off of Main Street in the City of Acworth. The boy was watching a baseball game. The boy states that he was grabbed from behind by a white male, 5’10”, 150-180 pounds, with dark hair and moustache. This male attempted to drag the boy into the wooded area. Somehow the boy was able to break free.

Always pay attention to your children. Where they are, what they are doing, and who they are with. Even though no incidents of this type have been reported in unincorporated West Cobb County, we all must be very vigilant in the care and safeguarding of our children. Always remember to contact the Police whenever a suspicious vehicle and/or person is seen in your neighborhood or park areas
