Go Fish….. If fishing lures you, there are several lakes and ponds in the park system available for you to fish. All are free and open to the public during park hours (7:00am-11:00pm). A valid fishing license is required and all state fishing regulations apply. Boats are not allowed. Cobb's fishing ponds include:
A permit is required to fish the pond at Jim Miller Park. The permit is free and can be obtained from the receptionist in the Parks and Recreation office on County Services Parkway. For directions to each park, see the facility listing here. Donate Silly String for the Troops! Our troops overseas have discovered that Silly String can be used for detecting tripwires without triggering an explosion. Help protect our soldiers by bringing a donation of Silly String to the Art Station – Big Shanty before the end of the summer. Staff Notes
Det. Kirkley advised that on June 16, 2007 at approximately 8:30pm, an 8 year old boy was near a wooded area at the Acworth Sports Complex off of Main Street in the City of Acworth. The boy was watching a baseball game. The boy states that he was grabbed from behind by a white male, 5’10”, 150-180 pounds, with dark hair and moustache. This male attempted to drag the boy into the wooded area. Somehow the boy was able to break free. Always pay attention to your children. Where they are, what they are doing, and who they are with. Even though no incidents of this type have been reported in unincorporated West Cobb County, we all must be very vigilant in the care and safeguarding of our children. Always remember to contact the Police whenever a suspicious vehicle and/or person is seen in your neighborhood or park areas |
