The
2010 Hunt - Cobb's Largest Egg Hunt
Cobb
County’s Largest Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 27th,
at Jim R. Miller Park located at 2245
Callaway Road in Marietta. The event begins at 10:00am and ends at 2:00pm.
The 2010 Hunt will feature children’s art activities, live entertainment,
inflatables, and concessions. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to delight
the children and there will be contests, including the Mad Hatter Contest,
Decorated Basket Contest and Sunday Best Fashion Show. Another special
highlight for the day will include Peter Pan and his friends appearing
on stage for a brief performance immediately following the last egg hunts.
There
will be five egg hunts which will be broken down into age groups. In each
hunt, there
will be prize eggs for which there will be special prizes. The schedule
of events is as follows:

Cobb
Parks offers a summer camp meeting the needs of almost any interest.
Camps are offered in arts and performance, recreation programs, tennis,
golf, and therapeutics for special needs individuals. Registration
for many programs are coming up in the next few weeks. Below are

Tennis Clinic for Children
Come join the fun as the Lost Mountain Community Tennis Association hosts
its inaugural QuickStart Tennis Carnival. The event will be held at Lost
Mountain Tennis Center on Saturday, March 6th, 3:30pm-5:00pm.
The carnival is for children ages 4-8 of all ability levels. If you have
never played tennis, this is a great opportunity to give it a try. Join

Julianne
Hough Will Perform at Cobb Civic Center
Country
singer, Julianne Hough will perform at the Jennie
T. Anderson Theatre at 8:00pm, Saturday, March 6th,
as part of the Encore Series. Hough is best known as a two-time professional
dance champion on the television show 'Dancing with the Stars.' Her self-titled
debut album was released in 2008, entering the Billboard Country Album
charts at number one and number three on the Billboard 200.

13th, Frankie Avalon on March 27th,
and on April 10th, Vickie Lawrence will

Cobb
Summer Games
The Special Olympics Summer Games will be held on March
27th at the Larry Bell Complex from 2:30–7:00pm. Over 180 athletes
will compete and show their skills and abilities in swimming, rhythmic
gymnastics, tennis, soccer, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, and track
and field. Come be a fan and cheer the Special Olympics GA-Cobb athletes
on to victory. The opening ceremony begins at 2:30pm.

Spotlight
Callie
Nettles, a life guard and swim instructor at the Central
Aquatic Center and a senior at North Cobb High School, started swimming
in the Cobb County Summer Swim League at the age of six for the Parkwood
Commons swim club. She enjoyed the sport so much she began swimming year-round
with the Tidal Wave two years later and currently swims with the Stingrays.
During her time with the Stingrays she has attained six junior national
swim time cuts and two short course national swim time cuts. She also
swims for North Cobb High School, making the all-county team 3 years in
a row, as well as holding four school swim time records while being named
team captain for her senior year. A typical week day for Callie consists
of practice at 5:45am, school at 8:00am, life guarding at 12:30pm, teaching
swim lessons at 1:15pm, followed by another swim practice at 4:00pm. Her
typical weekend consists of an early swim practice at 7:00am on Saturday
morning followed by life guarding or getting ready for a swim meet. Callie
has maintained all of this extra-curricular activity while keeping a 4.2
G.P.A., earning her Academic All-American honors as well as a scholarship
to the University of Alabama for swimming and academics. Congratulations
to Callie for making Cobb proud!

Cobb Tennis League - Cobb's Tennis League for Everyone!!!!
The
Cobb Tennis League is a tennis league where you compete against other
players of similar ability. Levels range from NTRP 2.0-5.0. The 2.0
level is for very beginners - this is a great opportunity to try out your
first tennis league. You do not need to be part of a team - you register
individually and you will be matched against other players at your level. This
is a flex league where you play when it is convenient for you and you
can play anywhere in Cobb County where there are tennis courts (parks,
clubs, or subdivisions). There are two seasons each year - spring season
and fall season. The spring season begins April 19th. The Cobb Tennis
League is a great way to to enjoy fun competition and to meet new people!
Registration for the spring league is currently in progress with an entry

St.
Patrick’s Day Dance
The Therapeutic Recreation Services will host a St. Patrick's Dance serving
people with special needs on Friday, March 12th from
7:00-9:00pm. It is green all over at Thompson
Park Community Center! Party the night away with the leprechauns wearing
your best green and white outfit. Enjoy dancing with your friends to your
favorite tunes. Light refreshments will be provided. The fee to participate

Spotlight
on the Arts
Spotlight on the Arts is coming up on April 24th.
This popular spring Open House puts the spotlight on the talents of local
West Cobb elementary and middle school students in both visual and performing
arts. So set the date on your calendar to come to the Art
Station – Big Shanty to view wonderful art work, listen to great performances,
and create an art project of your very own to take home.

Bishop Tournament Calendars Available
The
Al Bishop Softball Complex
schedules a variety of adult and youth tournaments each year from early
March through Labor Day Weekend. The Bishop Tournament Calendar is available
and lists all the tournaments being offered, along with entry deadlines,
entry fees, classes offered and other pertinent information. The calendar
is sponsored by Dudley Sports and includes photos of past year's tournament
champions and the previous year's tournament results. To receive a free

Superior
Basketball Academy at Cobb Recreation Centers
Ward Recreation Center and Ron
Anderson Recreation Center are now offering an exciting new basketball
instructional academy! This program is for children in grades 1-8. Players
will go through extensive training in ball handling, shooting, rebounding,
and team concepts on offense and defense. This off-season program will
give players the opportunity to master the fundamentals of the game at
their level. Players will participate in a patient, instructional environment
where the coaches want to see every child succeed and progress. Hard work
and determination are key values of this program. All players will receive
a practice jersey, shorts, travel bag, headband, wristbands and water
bottle. Fees for this program are $85 per month. For more information

Semi-Annual
Book Sale Coming Soon to Miller Park
The
Friends of the Library will hold its semi-annual book sale March
5-7 at Jim Miller Park in Marietta. More than 100,000 items will
be on sale, including hardbound and paperback books for children, young
adults and adults; books on tape and CD; records; magazines; CD's and
comic books. All proceeds are used to purchase new books and other library
materials. Prices range from 25¢ to $2. The sale will run Friday
and Saturday, 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 1:00-5:00pm. For more information,
