Social Clubs


Serving People With Special Needs

The goal of social clubs is to promote independence by providing leisure opportunities that increase social interaction skills, leisure awareness, activity skills and community awareness. The clubs are designed according to age and functional level of the participant. The TRS staff will assess each participant with input from the parent/guardian for appropriate club placement.

Social clubs are designed for ages 12-15 (new!!!) and 16 & up. Clubs are limited to 8 - 12 participants. Every quarter each club participates in 3 to 5 activities. Fees are charged on a quarterly basis.

SOCIAL CLUBS

(FOR AGES 16 & up)

These social clubs are designed for ages 16 and up. Clubs are limited to 8 - 12 participants. Every quarter each club participates in 3 to 5 activities. Fees are charged on a quarterly basis. All new participants must be assessed prior to registration. Please call Kevin Hill at (770) 819-3256 to schedule an appointment.   

Fees:       $35.00 quarterly


Extra Fees:

Participant Insurance   $6.00 annually (optional)   

TRS Non-Resident Fee $25.00   (if applicable)

Program Descriptions

SLUMBER PARTY
No transportation provided
Drop off at Thompson Park 6:00pm Friday
Pick up at Thompson 10:30am Saturday
Enjoy a slumber party with your friends at Thompson Park. Bring your sleeping bag or blankets and your pillow. You may also bring your favorite movies and music or join the talent show on stage. Dinner provided Friday, and breakfast Saturday.

WILDERNESS DAY

Travel to Thompson Park for a day of nature. Learn about local animals, do some fishing at the lake and enjoy a cookout for lunch.

COOKING CLASS

Learn the basics of cooking and enjoy some great food at the same time! Participants will be given some basic instruction on how to cook and use safety in the kitchen.

BOWLING

Join your friends for a night at the bowling alley. Refreshments provided.

SHOPPING TRIP

The TRS program serves the special populations of Cobb County, providing leisure and recreation activities to people with disabilities and/or delays. You must be pre-registered to attend this event.
